Estimados compañeros y amigos

Los pasados 11, 12 y 13 de agosto asistimos al XXII Congreso Latinoamericano de Hombro y Codo, lo cual ha sido un orgullo el poder estar y representar a nuestra sociedad.

Dicho congreso se celebró en la ciudad de Lima, participaron expertos de 13 países latinoamericanos y 10 profesores invitados de Japón, Italia, Alemania y España.

El Congreso fue dividido en cuatro bloques dedicados los dos primeros al manguito rotador y a la inestabilidad del hombro, un tercero a la artroplastia y artroscopia del codo y un cuarto dedicado a la artroplastia del hombro.

En el Congreso se realizaron dos cirugías en directo, una por el Dr. Emilio Calvo (reparación de una rotura masiva del manguito vía artroscopia) y otra por el Dr. Rosales Varo (reconstrucción capsular superior en una rotura irreparable del manguito en paciente joven) que recibieron las felicitaciones de los asistentes.

Por parte de nuestra sociedad Emilio Calvo, Raúl Barco, Antonio Pablo Rosales y Fernando Santana tuvimos el placer de asistir. Fueron presentadas catorce ponencias entre los cuatro miembros de la SECHC que tuvimos la oportunidad de asistir.

El 12 de agosto hubo una reunión SLAHOC- SECEC-SECHC, en la que el Dr. Macedo (presidente del congreso) mostró su agradecimiento por las becas recibidas y la asistencia al congreso. En dicha reunión se abordó el tema de la formación continuada entre Latinoamérica y Europa.

Valorar el camino andado previamente por nuestra sociedad en Latinoamérica, agradecer entre ellos al Dr. Flores y al Dr. Mora por la labor realizada años atrás.

Felicitar y agradecer el fabuloso trato que hemos recibido, el esfuerzo de todos los compañeros que han colaborado en el Congreso. En especial al Dr. Macedo, por su trabajo y sobre todo por su tiempo, el cual es suyo y de sus familias.

SECEC/ESSSE offers a 20.000 Euro research grant which is intended to promote and support basic and clinical research related to shoulder and elbow pathologies.

The primary purpose of this grant is to foster projects that provide useful information and/or develop and provide methodological tools for the benefit of our society. The obtained knowledge will be at free disposal for SECEC/ESSSE members. Methodological and epidemiological projects will be favoured.

Only ordinary, associate- or corresponding members are eligible for application. The application can be authored or co-authored by non-members provided that there is at least one SECEC/ESSSE member in the author's list.

The written application should include a description of the project, the involved persons and institutions as well as a financial and time plan. Only written applications in English are accepted.
The recipient of the grant will be asked to produce a progress report due to the Research & Development Committee one month prior to the SECEC/ESSSE or ICSS meeting. For oral and/or written publication acknowledgment using a SECEC/ESSSE logo or text is required.

The next deadline for submission is June 30, 2016. Applications will be reviewed and selected by the Research & Development Committee. The decision will be communicated at the following SECEC/ESSSE meeting in Antwerpen in September 2016.

The Executive Committee of the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow has decided to call for applications for the subcommittee members.

This year several members of our subcommittees have to be replaced:

• 1 member in the Education Committee
• 3 members in the R&D Committee,
• 2 members in the Membership Committee,
• 3 members in the Rehabilitation Committee,
• 4 members in the Program Committee.
• 1 member in the Qualification Committee.

It was decided and voted at the last General Assembly in Milan the creation of the Registry Committee. This Committee will include 4 members and the Chairman who will be member of the Executive Committee.
The role of these committees and their members is quite important for the society’s life and future activities. Please visit our website www.secec.org to look at the numerous activities initiated and supported by these committees.
The appointment of these members will be voted at the General Assembly in Antwerp, September 2016.

The deadline for applications is June 1st, 2016.

El pasado 7 y 8 de abril tuvimos el placer de organizar el VI Curso de Instrucción SECHC. Se celebró en Madrid, modificando la estructura de cursos previos e intentando mantener el nivel científico que exige nuestra Sociedad.
